Biography

I’m Dr. Victor Chukwuemeka — an economist, trader, researcher, teacher, and lifelong student of financial and political systems. My journey began with a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of London, which I later followed with a PhD in European economics. Over the years, I’ve worked across financial markets, government, academia, and advisory, but the common thread through it all has been a desire to uncover truth, offer insight, and genuinely help people — not use them.
I started my career trading financial instruments, focusing on the Foreign Exchange markets, before going on to run a Money Market desk covering instruments like Commercial Paper, Bonds, Swaps, Options, Equities and more. While the financial world offered high stakes and excitement, I quickly became disillusioned. I saw people step on others to climb higher, often in ways that pushed ethical and sometimes legal boundaries. For me, the world — whether corporate or otherwise — should be about helping people, not using them. That belief is who I am. It’s not an image or a phase. It won’t change.
After leaving that environment, I redirected my focus toward something more meaningful. I gained a forecasting certificate in econometrics from the University of Oxford and combined it with the econometric methods I developed during my PhD. This gave me the tools to offer high-level insight as a freelance economist, mainly to U.S. hedge funds and later to London-based commercial real estate firms. My work has included economic forecasting, European market analysis, and strategic advice for fund managers and international banks. Over time, I realised that this kind of research shouldn’t be the exclusive preserve of large institutions. Everyday investors — from small-scale traders to real estate investors — deserve the same quality of insight, and that has become one of my guiding principles.
I’ve served as a government economist in the UK, working with the Ministry of Justice, the Department for Transport, and the Cabinet Office, advising on domestic and international economic issues such as trade, infrastructure, and public policy. In those roles, I developed policy suggestions that were put before Parliament — something I remain proud of.
My fascination with European economic policy started young. I was still in school when European leaders decided to integrate 11 nations under a single currency and interest rate. Even then, I questioned whether a one-size-fits-all approach could survive the inevitable downturns and shocks. My view was that without flexibility, countries would struggle to recover from recessions — turning temporary setbacks into long-term stagnation. Thirty years later, I stand by that belief, and my doctoral research confirms many of those early instincts. To this day, I stay actively engaged with European Parliamentary delegates, pressing them to answer for their ongoing push toward full convergence and economic unification.
Beyond research and consulting, I write regularly for UK and U.S. think tanks and economic journals, and I occasionally lecture in universities and schools. I still offer free teaching and mentoring to students considering careers in economics and finance. In fact, while doing my PhD, I was invited to provide core teaching and mentorship to Master’s students — something I continue when time allows. Helping young people find their way in this field is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
In short, I’ve spent a career bridging markets, academia, and policy, but at my core, I’m simply an economist who believes insight should be accessible, learning should never stop, and integrity should never be compromised.
